Andre Rolighten from Albatrosh Duo, Oslo at 12 Points! 2009 in Dublin.

Dear  Tonje,

In 2010, 12 Points!  the critically acclaimed festival and showcase for emerging European jazz talent, will be leaving its Dublin base of the last three years.

In alternate years, the festival will be hosted by a partner city, making new networks of musical exchange between Dublin and other centres of creativity from all points on the European map. The first of these is Stavanger and we look forward to seeing you in beautiful Western Norway for four days of music making that reflects all the creativity, vitality and diversity in European jazz today.

If you are an ensemble or solo artist in your mid 20s to early 30s and would like to be considered for the festival programme, or work for an agency, publication, national organization or educational institution that advocates on behalf of emerging jazz artists, we are now taking online submissions for the 2010 edition.

The closing date for applications is Friday 18th September 2009.

Kind regards,

12 Points! team

What is 12 Points!?

The key elements of 12 Points! are as follows:

  • 12 Points! is designed to showcase 12 young European jazz ensembles, loosely in the mid 20s to early 30s age bracket.
  • 12 Points! aims to create a unique networking opportunity for its participants, with opportunities for informal musical and social encounters as well as showcase performances before an audience that includes the elite of European jazz professionals.
  • 12 Points! 2010 is core funded by Culture Ireland, Goethe Institute, IMC, Stavanger Jazz Forum and Vestnorsk Jazz Senter with further funding sought from other cultural agencies in Europe.
  • 12 Points! is a resource for festival bookers and jazz media  who seek an intensive, high quality pan European showcase of emerging ensembles.
  • Through its funding model, all ensembles participate on an equal footing, attending for the 4 days duration of the festival, to allow a high level of social interaction with their fellow participants. Flights, accommodation, local transport and catering will be provided, in addition to a performance fee of €500 per musician (up to a maximum of €2000 per ensemble).

12 Points is produced by Improvised Music Company, an Arts Council funded resource organization for jazz and related music in Ireland.
